IN MEMORY OF THE CHILDREN WHO PERISHED IN THE COLLINWOOD SCHOOL FIRE

On March 4, 1908 the worst school fire in the country's history, at that time, occurred at Lakeview Elementary located on E. 152nd Street in Collinwood.  This fire that caused the death of 172 children and 2 teachers would set the stage for changes in building codes.

 

 

Some of the children who perished in this school fire are buried

 in East Cleveland Cemetery and they are remembered here:
